You shouldn't damage the hard drive if you open the box.
PLEASE DO NOT TRY DATA RECOVERY VIA SATA CABLE CONNECTED TO COMPUTER DIRECTLY OR VIA DOCK STATION!!
Because this WD hard disk has been encrypted,It must use the same controller board and update the IC chip firmware.(We listing this item have been updated the firmware!)
If exclude the connector board,the hard disk Master Boot Record (MBR) maybe will changed or rewrite,all data maybe will lose.


(Note: the new controller board will not supported If the problem from the hard disk such as physical error!!Please understanding this reason and the risk before purchase!)
